Long Time, No Post

Well, hello all! Sorry I haven’t had a chance to update my blog page. I’ve been really busy with work and working on my songs, and through all of the holidays. I have also updated my studio somewhat for better sound :) . We have been playing out a lot as well. People ask me who I’d rather play for, my fans or God. The answer is both! I am working on a project called “World Peace”. I am trying to bring music and peace together. On Facebook, I have a Likes page and many folks from around the world have hit it. Thank you all for doing so! Well, until next time I blog again, it’s time to hit the studio for awhile and jam. :-)

My Thoughts For Today

Here’s the thing about my guitar playing…Some of you say I am all over the neck when playing lead, and that may be true. Yes, sometimes I know I am “playing into the wind”. The thing about playing guitar is that you can do what you want to with it. If you can come up with some good riffs to work with, and a few good chops, then it’s there and happening! It’s an ongoing thing from Joe Satriani to Chet Atkins to Eric Johnson, Alex Lifeson, and even Jimmy Page and Hendrix. I just wish I could cram 1,000 notes into one riff.

My thought on singing….Sorry, but I can’t sing at all. I just play guitar because it’s universal, and words are not needed. If you went to another country, you would have to translate the words of your song so others could understand you. But we can all understand a guitar cord strike. Words are a different thing.

I have a great time just playing on my guitar. Trust me, it does take a lot of time to learn, but after that, it’s all fun (at least for me it is). The guitar is an amazing thing. When treated the right way, a guitar is like a fine beer or wine. Guitar players each have their own style and we are always trying to make it better.

Those are my thoughts for today. Comments anyone? :)

First CD Coming Out Soon

My very first CD, called “Element of Chance”, will be coming out soon. I wanted to let you all know which songs I selected for it. Well, they are:

1. About To Fly
2. Jam To Live, Live To Jam
3. Scattered Thoughts
4. Riff Crusher
5. Farewell Old Friend
6. The W.B. Song
7. Giants In The Background

I have so many people to thank. My web master will be helping me do that on the krissbrown.net web site. I will let you all know when the CD is ready and up for sale. Stay tuned, and keep on jammin’!

New song: Giants In The Background

Man, what a song to do! It was a tough one. Giants In The Background is dedicated to the people that help me out behind the scenes, like Mr. Mike Portnoy and Mr. Ronnie Presley. If you ever need a good drummer, Ronnie is here in Nashville and is totally unreal. I wanted to write that song for them because they help me so much. They, and the bass player, are behind me and behind the scenes coaching me.

I love spending hours on end in the studio just writing riffs and seeing what becomes of them. Some I keep, and some I scrap. But when playing guitar, it’s fun to just let loose and play what you really want and feel, and reach further and harder than you ever have before.

After July 1st, I hope to open up a CD store on ReverbNation if I can play my cards right. So, let’s hope for the best on that.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. Comments anyone?

What’s Up?

Well, there is something to be said for the hard work and time being put in to come up with my tunes. I do love playing the guitar. It relaxes me. I also love playing live shows. I strive to be at my best when I play live. Hopefully soon, a ReverbNation store will be coming soon. The only time I hate playing is when the fans start getting too close. I do like my space while playing. I love to play live, but please give me and the rest of the band some room to play.

I’ve been asked why I am not on YouTube. Actually, I am, but I stay way too busy to be on YouTube.

I do have these people to thank: Kevin Ryan, David Long and Lisa Old Rock. If you’re on Facebook, please hit my likes page at “kriss brown rocks”. Also, I have to thank Mr. Ronnie Presely and Mr. Mike Portnoy. Ronnie, thank you so much for hanging in there with me. Mike, thank you for getting me out of the 3 chord jam. And lastly, I would like to thank you, my fans, for stopping by and playing my tunes. It means a lot to me. Matt, thank you for letting me play at Irina’s birthday party. I wish I could’ve had the full band there. One more special thank you goes out to my web master, Mr. David Long. I’d be screwed without him!
