My answer was always, "A famous rock star, man!" What was yours? Welcome to my "heroes" page! Shown here are just a few of the people or bands I really like and think of as my "heroes of music". They have influenced me in various ways during my childhood so I'd like to tell you a little story about that... My story begins with my good friend Dave Long (yes, my web site guy). He took me to my first rock concert in Knoxville, TN. It was Rush's Moving Pictures tour, and man, it was so unreal. The lights and sounds I experienced were beyond anything I ever imagined a concert would be like. And, I wasn't even drunk or high at the time! But, what my buddy Dave didn't realize was that after seeing Rush in concert, I was hooked like the first big bass on a kid's fishing line! I have been playing the guitar for over 15 years now and I'm still learning from Rush's excellent playing. But Randy Rhoades was the one who first got me interested in playing the guitar. He is also one of the best in my book and a great performer to start learning from. If Rush should ever view this awesome web page that Dave and Kevin have done for me, I just want them to know that I respect each and every member of the band. Like a football player loves watching plays to learn better how to sack "John Henderson", I love to watch Rush and Rhoades play and learn forever from them. I think God sent them here for others to learn a lot from. Geddy, Neil, and Alex: I love learning from you guys, and have surprised myself when I've learned how to play a Geddy Lee riff. My thoughts and prayers are with the mysterious one: Mr. Neil Peart. I know it's hard, sir, very hard, but we have to let God be God and there is nothing we can do about it. I've seen Rush throughout the years, some with Dave and some with Kevin, and we're just like, man, they're unreal. Neil, sir, I want you to know that I am praying that you will never give up the drums. Alex, to you sir, I love learning from your guitar playing although I know you've been playing much longer than I've been born, but I still enjoy learning from your playing. To Geddy: How do you all hold it together after 30 years? Most marriages don't last that long! I could use some very helpful advice from you, sir.
So, as you can see, I am a Rush fan even though I enjoy the music of other great
guitar players, like Randy Rhoads and Joe Satriani. I just
thought this page would be a great place for me to let you
know where I'm coming from, and where I'd like to be: On the
cover of the Rolling Stone!
On the right are pictures of some of my musical heroes. You can click their names and go to their web site to discover more about them. I have a picture of me with Sammy Hagar in the PhotoShow page if you'd like to take a look. It's in the "My Friends" album. The picture was taken backstage before a concert in Knoxville, TN. That was one excellent moment that I'll never forget! Thanks, Dave, for the FREE tickets! He worked at WIMZ 104.5, Knoxville's only rock radio station at the time, and was able to get concert tickets from the sales staff! I hope this page gave you a better picture of what I think this web site is all about. It was a long time in the making, and I'm not done yet! This is a living web site that will grow with me as I travel through the years, learning all I can about the groups and people I've mentioned here. So, that's MY story, and I'm stickin' to it!
